Hello, I recently set up a new gaming setup two years ago to cut costs. I chose a used GPU because it offered solid value at the time, and I kept the old PSU from my previous machine. All other parts were brand new. Shortly after starting, I noticed DirectX crashes or errors while playing games, but I didn’t suspect the issue was related to my second-hand GPU. I tried adjusting settings in the Nvidia Control panel and refreshing the GPU BIOS, but no solution came up. I’m considering upgrading to a 4070 Ti Super if the current GPU isn’t the problem. I’ve attached one of the error messages from Battlefield 1, which also appeared in COD (MW2-MW3) and The Finals. Thanks for your help—I’d appreciate any additional details you can provide.

Need complete specifications? After updating the GPU BIOS, use DDU to clear it, then reinstall drivers with GeForce Experience. A reliable test is to switch to another GPU in your setup or run it on a different machine to check for recurring issues.

You might attempt DDU and fresh drivers first. If the issue recurs, check Event Viewer for additional errors.

Thanks for your prompt response. I'll attempt DDU and if it doesn't work, I'll try using a GPU from a friend. I'm not very familiar with posting much, so I assumed my setup would be obvious. Apologies if that's the case. My specs seem to match automatically. Sorry for the confusion. My CPU is an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D with an 8-core processor, motherboard X570, AORUS PRO WIFI RAM, Corsair Vengeance 32GB dual-channel DDR4 at 3200MHz, a 16-core GPU MSI RTX 3080, a Supercharged X case with a fractal design, and a Storage KINGSTON SKC3000 1TB M.2 SSD. My PSU is an 850W Corsair display, and I have LG UltraGear 27GP850P monitors. My operating system is Windows 11.

Tried DDU today with new drivers, but the problem remains, so I’ll consider using a GPU on another system.
