DirectX 9 freezes Windows 10
DirectX 9 freezes Windows 10
Here’s a rewritten version of the text, focusing on clarity and detail:
This document describes an issue experienced with specific games utilizing DirectX 9 technology. The problem manifests as a complete system freeze when running these titles, accompanied by a persistent buzzing sound. This occurs exclusively with games employing DirectX 9, while other DirectX versions (10, 11, 12) do not trigger this behavior.
The issue appears to be related to the graphics card’s compatibility with older DirectX APIs. Specifically, when attempting to run games designed for DirectX 9 using a Radeon RX 570 GPU, a severe freeze occurs after a period of gameplay. The freezing is complete – unresponsive – and accompanied by an audible buzzing sound, likely from the system's audio output.
The system’s specifications include an 8GB RAM configuration and a Radeon RX 570 GPU, which are capable of handling modern games with DirectX 11 or higher. This suggests that the issue is isolated to applications specifically designed for and reliant on the older DirectX 9 standard. The freezing is not observed when utilizing alternative DirectX versions.
Here’s the rewritten text:
“To resolve issues with DirectX games running in Windows 10, try these steps. First, close any ASUS monitoring apps that may be interfering. Then, attempt to disable DirectX End-User Runtimes and play the game in dx9 mode. If you are still experiencing problems, download and install the latest DirectX End-User Runtime from Microsoft.”
At first, I thought it worked, but then it happened again, thanks anyway! : )
I'm sorry to hear. I'll see if I can think of something else, but hopefully someone who knows better than I do will come by the thread in the meantime and have the right solution to the problem.
I've had a similar issue one time myself, but it was a long time ago, so I can't really remember exactly how it was solved, but it certainly should be possible.
Can you list the game / or games that your having issues with. Maybe one of us has crossed that bridge and knows the magic fix.
