This pattern isn’t random. It could be intentional. My initial thought is you might be using your hand’s heel to trigger something else.
I can't resist using the alt tab since I enjoy multitasking, and it appears to appear unexpectedly when no action is taken.
Then sadly you’re right in the window for burn in failure. It’s a thing that sometimes happens to electronics. It’s a major reason for the 90 day warranty length. Stuff can pass quality control because it works, but there’s a crap solder joint or Mia crimped bit or something that’s only good for a few uses. So the possibility is real. Luckily keyboards are modular. There are more or less two kinds these days: rubber dome and mechanical. If you’ve got rubber dome it’s a prime time to get mechanical. They’re a lot louder but they last multiple times as long. Cheap ones are actually cheaper than throw away rubber dome keyboards in the long run. Ones with standardized replaceable switches will often last the lifetime of the user. The old buckling spring mechanical keyboards IBM used to bundle with their machines are often still going and are worth more now than they were new. I’ve gone through maybe 6 rubber dome keyboards at $10-12 a piece that adds up. Edited September 22, 2022 by Bombastinator
