Direct die cooling at 13900k / 14900k with incorrect block
I'm trying to install my first CPU and it's a 14900k using Corsair iCUE XC7 RGB Elite LCD. I'm planning to sand down the cooler for better contact, but I'm worried about other components on the board touching the cooler without precise measurements. I've added spacers to the screws to maintain distance. I have the ESC but prefer the Corsair block with the LCD display instead. Any advice or experiences from others would be great! Thanks! I lack experience with direct die cooling, but I understand that sanding creates a rough finish. The factory uses precision tools to achieve smooth surfaces, which is crucial for regular CPU cooling. For your project, using a Vernier Caliper for measurements would be ideal. Avoid digital calipers as they drain batteries quickly.
