It is just my power supply that needs fixing, but testing it showed it was broken. To fix it costs about £120, but then buying another laptop would be way cheaper. I am really confused by this situation.
Why would buying a laptop matter at all? You just need to replace the power supply if it's still under warranty, or you'd better buy a whole new computer instead.
Every sign was pointing that way. The power supply is really important and makes the whole system work. If it doesn't give enough clean electricity, things will go wrong over and over again and nobody can fix them. This place you need to be careful about spending money here. They charge what they charge.
But it's just not about the power supply. That £120 already costs for one, and I also need new hard drives and solid state drives because they've shown bad blocks. So my total bill is around £250. However, later this month or next month, I'll get a £300 cost of living payment. If I add another £200 of my own money, I could end up with a really good laptop for £500. At that point, it doesn't make sense to repair anything right now.
That is actually pretty cheap for what it is. At these prices, buying a laptop usually isn't a great idea unless you just want to send text messages and watch videos on the internet. It's not really worth spending that much money on something like this.
I live in the UK because of that annoying Windows error message. Because of it, I told you about this thing, which means I'd have to buy Windows 11 too. So if you think of money from here, I'm going to pay £358.96 for the whole deal, including Windows. But if you look at a really good laptop that costs £548.00, then we can save about £200. Basically, I only need £190 extra for everything else. And since I also play games on Steam, write emails and docs, listen to music, and watch videos all the time, this price includes all those parts together with the Windows license.
So, if you decide this machine isn't working anymore, that's pretty much it for us.
I don't think it can't be salvaged; it comes down to the cost of buying parts versus just buying a whole new laptop with new parts and a Windows key already in the box.
If you need something right now, just buy whatever makes sense today. If buying a laptop is an option, I won't stop you from doing that. If you decide to come back later and want to use the desktop again, then you'll have what you need to get it working once more.
