I am looking for some help with my laptop. It is a Toshiba Satellite C640 Dynabook that has DDR3 RAM and a Pentium B945 processor. Sadly, this specific model doesn't support Virtualization technology. So I upgraded the CPU to Intel 2nd gen i5 2520m processor. Now it works fine with 8GB of RAM and an SSD, and it's actually pretty fast. But after about 20 minutes or sometimes even just a few minutes, when I start playing games, the laptop suddenly turns itself off. It's really annoying. I tried many fixes. I applied new thermal paste, cleaned out all the memory holes, fans, and vents, put on a cooling pad, and turned the fan on from outside to help airflow. I also reduced the maximum CPU power setting by 80%. But nothing fixed it. I don't know why it keeps shutting down even though it used to work before this problem started after upgrading to the new CPU. [PS: Before it shuts off, the fans spin really fast and the noise gets louder.] Please help me with this. Thanks a lot!

Welcome to the forums! If this sounds like you, it's probably because your computer turned off to stop getting hurt. Maybe you haven't updated the BIOS software before swapping out another chip yet. Did you check that first?
