Did my laptop suddenly start feeling slow?
About a week ago, I downloaded Apex Legends and everything worked perfectly with no problems. But two days ago, launching the game made everything laggy again. My game started stuttering, my browser got slow (I can't open tabs, videos stop loading, and switching tabs takes forever). Overall, just the whole laptop felt sluggish. At first, I thought it was just Apex Legends. However, when I launched Valorant earlier, the same thing happened. Once I start a game or app, lag starts affecting both the browser and my computer in general. This wasn't happening before up until two days ago when things started randomly breaking down. The only idea I have is that my CPU might be getting too hot. It's running around 85-95 degrees Celsius, which it usually does since I live in a very hot area and the laptop doesn't feel any hotter than normal to me. I've used compressed air to try and clear some dust, but I'm not sure what else I could do. I don't have tools or the knowledge to open it up for a clean. Are there other problems with solutions I could try? Laptop: MSI GL 8SDK Specs (I'm not sure about the specs except for CPU and GPU). CPU: Intel i5-8750h GPU: RTX 1660 Ti
Even though the CPU only gets hot up to 100 degrees Celsius, your threads might still slow down if they go over that limit. You can check this with the free app Cpuid HWMonitor to see which threads are getting throttled and how high their temperature is. It's also a smart idea to watch your GPU temps too; keeping both cool usually helps things run better. Here is where you can download the tool: https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
