Did altering the laptop's display settings to improve frame rate impact your gameplay?
I purchased a laptop display months ago that supported 1080p at 144hz, but when I bought the laptop it was 1080p at 120hz. My Asus TUF FX505D still hasn’t caused any issues, but after switching my display I noticed my laptop’s performance slowed down while playing games. I cleaned the machine regularly and used thermal liquid, which brought CPU and GPU temps down to 70-80 when running the latest titles. However, even with recommended settings, heavy games would drop frames at 144fps despite the resolution. To fix this, I’m considering lowering the resolution to 720 and capping FPS at 60 for smoother gameplay.
Did you unintentionally take off the thermal pad (is that term used in English?) from your GPU?
There should be thermal paste on the GPU and thermal pad on VRAM (yes, it's the small black square around the GPU die).
I faced the same issue before when I removed all these thermal components for the GPU and VRAM.
Unfortunately, I don’t know much about laptops, but I hope my response will catch the interest of other users to assist you.
