Hey there, I heard your friend suggest this approach. Here’s what happened: During extended stress tests or while playing certain games, all three monitors suddenly stopped working and displayed "No Signal." The system kept running, including the GPU, with fans spinning and you could still hear your Discord call. Restarting the PC resolved the issue, but it limits how you can troubleshoot since you can’t interact with the machine afterward.
I’ve already checked the display drivers and even uninstalled and reinstalled them. I’m thinking about returning the GPU for an RMA to MSI, but only if necessary. My current specs are: Windows 10 Home 64-bit, Z370 Aorus Gaming WIFI board, Intel i7-8700K, 16GB DDR4 RAM, MSI GeForce RTX 3080 with VENTUS 3X Plus 10G OC power supply, EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G3 (650W), two SSDs (512GB boot) and a 1TB HDD. BIOS version is F1, vBIOS 94.02.71.40.6C.
I don’t have screenshots or detailed logs because the monitors shut down completely and I’m forced to restart manually. The problem seems to occur mainly in GPU-heavy games where usage exceeds 70% and stays above 70°C. The highest temperature reached was 79°C during tests, though that’s unusually high for normal operation. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
It was the same problem but with a different GPU—specifically a Radeon RX 5600 XT—connected to an Acer FreeSync monitor. Likely drivers weren’t the cause. For me, removing the DP cable from the GPU and reinserting it resolved the issue. The new DP cable I used might have been faulty at first, but based on your specs, our main similarity lies in the power supply unit.
I'm not sure if these are current or where to get the latest versions. From what I recall, changing the DP cable by unplugging and plugging it back didn't help, but I'll give it another try next time just to be certain.
The motherboard BIOS is the release version for that device. It's outdated, which explains the problems. Update to the newest BIOS! https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z37...rt-dl-bios
Updating the BIOS didn't fix the problem, but I did discover a workaround. When the monitors turned off, the fans started spinning at full speed. After reseating the GPU and reconnecting the cables, it worked! It's unclear what caused the change, but a BIOS flash plus a GPU reset seems to have resolved the issue. Now my GPU can handle temperatures above 80 degrees during stress tests without any problems.
