Son's laptop began experiencing problems. Initially it slowed down and struggled with tasks, but now it won’t progress beyond the BIOS menu. At first I suspected a storage issue with his game drive. I swapped the hard drive, but the trouble persisted. After installing a new main drive and a fresh Windows copy, the computer still wouldn’t advance past the OS. We upgraded the power supply to a higher wattage unit (850W), yet the same issues remained. A new motherboard was ordered and installed, along with a clean Windows installation, but the problem continued. The Windows setup on the new drive worked correctly on another machine. Everything on the BIOS (new board) recognized properly. My system has a Ryzen 5 5600X with 32GB RAM. I experimented by using only 8GB at a time with different modules each boot. Despite resetting everything after installation, the mouse and keyboard issues still occurred. The BIOS came with the motherboard, so nothing was changed. The previous board had identical BIOS settings when the problems began. I’m concerned the processor might be failing—could these kinds of issues recur? This has never happened before. I improved my BIOS settings but still faced issues, though a Linux USB with UBUNTU resolved the problem. I experimented with a blank hard drive and USB CD booting, but couldn't get Windows to load. A bootable USB with my prebuilt system didn't work either. Could you provide more details?
I resolved it! I don’t know exactly how, but I managed. I set up UBUNTU on another SSD, and once it worked, I restored the original hard drive, but it didn’t boot properly. The computer wouldn’t start from a functional USB with Windows 10 or a Windows CD. I used two more USB drives, downloaded a clean version from the Microsoft site, made it bootable, and tried the second one too—no difference in results. The positive part is it’s now working.
