Hello everyone! I was replacing my PC components—motherboard, RAM, and CPU—and the new board didn’t work properly, so I decided to revert. After restarting, I encountered an error saying USB short detected. I looked it up online and found that resetting the CMOS is a common fix. For my motherboard model, it’s MSI B85M-E33. All USB ports seem intact and there are no visible damage signs. I also checked the internal pins inside the PC case. When I tried to boot again, the screen displayed a message asking me to choose between "Run Setup" or "Continue." Either option led back to the USB short issue. I reset the CMOS several times, tried frying the JBT1 connector or removing/adding the battery, but the problem persisted. The PC would start normally in the setup menu but always returned to the short circuit screen. I’m still trying to figure out a permanent solution.

Disconnect the internal USB connectors first, so you can confirm if the short comes from the rear panel USB or not. Otherwise, it would be the front panel headers or case.

It appears to come from the back and keeps showing the error even after unplugging the front. This hasn't happened before, so I'm unsure what's causing it. It functioned properly before and there were no problems with the USB ports.

Installed it on a USB device with three pins, placed it above the USB port where you connect the cable.
