Over the last couple of months my computer has been cycling on its own quite often. The most recent three instances occurred while playing a game (a), right after waking it from sleep mode (b), and last night I powered it off completely before turning it back on ©. No solution has worked so far—it appears to reset itself automatically. (a) During one of those cycles while I was gaming, I changed the RAM, removed the CMOS battery, and it functioned briefly before restarting again. Between those events, I installed a new motherboard and CPU, both operating normally. (b) I had placed it in sleep mode before bed, woke it up the next day, and it flickered to my desktop before shutting down. Because I was in the middle of lunch, I didn’t intervene, ate, and then it sat idle on the lock screen for about an hour before working properly again. © After a full shutdown, closing all programs, and waiting roughly ten hours, it turned on itself and has been powering through cycles for the past half hour. Before this problem started, I performed a clean Windows 10 to 11 installation (which had its own issues) and upgraded to a 4070ti from a 1070ti. Now I’m unsure what might be causing this behavior. My friend suggested some troubleshooting steps—memtest86 passed and certain commands detected errors in Windows OS. We ran those again after power cycles, but another issue appeared. My specs are: 750W, EVGA 80+ Gold, Intel i5-12600K, 32GB RAM, MSI MAG B660, Tomahawk WiFi DDR4, running on an SATA SSD.
