In April 2020 I assembled my own gaming PC. It operated smoothly until recently. While playing games it would abruptly freeze and restart. Updating drivers made the problem worse, increasing crashes. I encountered driver warnings ("AMD software detected a driver timeout..."). Since last night the system stopped responding. The screen remains black; the mainboard shows a white LED, suggesting a VGA (graphics card) issue. Fans are running but graphics card fans aren't. I attempted several fixes: removing the card, unplugging PSU cables, testing different display cables, and clearing the RTC RAM in CMOS (which restored RGB settings). My build details are listed above. Is my graphics card faulty? What can I do next?

Have you tested connecting your GPU to the motherboard using VGA or HDMI? If it functions, the issue likely lies with your GPU itself. Try starting in Safe Mode, removing the GPU drivers, and reinstalling them to determine if that resolves the problem. The lack of fan operation is concerning because it indicates a cooling failure. How recently did you acquire your graphics card? Did you significantly overclock it? What were the typical temperatures during gameplay?

It won't function. This model lacks built-in graphics capabilities.

IkeaGnome mentioned my CPU lacks a built-in GPU, which means the mainboard's HDMI port isn't functional in my system. I can't enter safe mode. The card has been with me for two years and nine months. I haven't overclocked or undervolted it. I don't remember the average temperature during gaming sessions. Last week, when the card triggered frequent crashes, I ran a stress test using Adrenaline for 120 seconds, reaching 73°C and 163°F.

You need to test two options: adding another GPU on your current setup and checking your existing GPU on a different system. This will help determine the cause.

Refers to the connectors on your motherboard for the display.

I checked my card in a friend's system today too. The same problem occurred. The fans didn't work and the screen stayed black. I think I'll take it to a repair shop.

It's odd how this happens. Make sure your warranty has expired—most graphics cards come with a three-year guarantee.

I believe you overlooked the beginning of what was intended.
