Hello, your concern is about the main PC issue you're experiencing. Based on your setup, the motherboard (ASUS X570PRO TUF Gaming) and the built-in NIC are the key components. The BIOS version is 4602 (Feb 2023), running Windows 10 64-bit with all updates applied. The problem appears to be intermittent connectivity when the computer powers off. Most of the time it resumes, but the onboard LAN reports a disconnection. This happens roughly 70-80% of the time. The device isn’t unplugged—it’s firmly connected. You’ve noticed a few workarounds: turning off Ethernet in the control panel, waiting briefly, then re-enabling; disconnecting the NIC from the UPS or switch and plugging it back in quickly; or powering down the local network switch and reconnecting. Interestingly, other devices on the same switch work fine. This has persisted since the PC was first installed three years ago, with a full Windows reinstall about two years prior. You don’t use it nonstop as a workstation now, so sleep cycles are more frequent, which might be contributing. The hardware specs you provided are detailed and match your configuration. It seems this isn’t an isolated incident but a recurring pattern. If you’re unsure, consider checking for firmware updates or consulting ASUS support for similar reports.

It might resolve the issue. I'm always checking if I've updated the driver for the NIC in the past three years, though most installations work fine on their own. Updating could be beneficial.

I didn’t resolve the issue by disabling the "sleep NIC" setting. I’ll attempt to update the drivers now. Let’s explore what this means and see where we go from here. This problem has been persistent for a long time with the PC always running, so fixing it is important.

I can see that new NIC drivers were made available from ASUS around the time I updated the BIOS last year, so I have now updated those and rebooted. I can confirm that this did not have any positive impact on the sleep recovery either. Next: I'll try locking the connection speed, in case it's an auto-neg problem. A bit of an old-school fix for erroneous "NIC unplugged" errors, but if it works, it works. I'm not planning on moving this PC around and if I upgrade the 3 switches across my house, I'll just have to adjust this setting at the time.
