I believe this might be a software-related problem. When I shut down my computer, the screen turns off and then restarts to the lock screen within a second. I'm using Windows 8.1, and I'm looking for any possible causes.

Turn off hibernate. Execute the command from an elevated prompt: powercfg -h off. This will extend your computer's shutdown and restart time, but it will save a lot of disk space.

Consider turning off automatic wake-up from devices in your motherboard's BIOS. USB gadgets sometimes restart the system because they're mistakenly used when idle.
