I recently faced a shorted motherboard issue that began smoking, likely from a loose screw. The smoke appeared in the top left corner. After replacing it, the system started turning on and off without display, showing error code 00 with only a red light. I suspect the problem is with the CPU, not the RAM or power supply, since I just got a new one.
You removed a screw from your motherboard while the system was running. It’s possible you damaged a component and caused both the CPU and motherboard to fail. Fortunately, things might still be salvageable. Are you using a CPU cooler? I’m not suggesting it’s overheating, but some users reported error code 00 linked to an AIO cooler failing to communicate properly, preventing booting. Have you checked any previous troubleshooting steps?
I have an air cooler, which makes it less likely. It failed suddenly while I was playing (Elden Ring, not too demanding, but possible).
