I checked the system settings and performed Secure Erase, but I wasn’t sure of the consequences. Now my hard drive is ATA locked, and I’ve tried several online fixes without success.
Secure Erase prepares the storage for permanent erasure, making recovery impossible. Secure Boot safeguards against tampered bootloaders. Neither method restricts access to the drive. An ATA lock function resembles a password setting. Why would you alter configurations without understanding their purpose?
Sorry, my mistake. It is Secure Erase+ and it displays as ATA locked. I was cloning the drive and didn’t see any success, so I used Secure Erase+ to wipe the SSD data and begin anew. The drive doesn’t have a password set in the BIOS.
