Hello, I recently assembled a budget gaming rig for some basic titles. One morning I powered it on and started the long drive, only to see the game running very shaky. In the task manager I saw the GPU missing entirely. I tried a restart and checked all drivers, but nothing changed. I removed the GPU and tried various slots, power cables, and video connections—still no improvement. It worked perfectly before! System specs: -XFX Radeon RX 580 8GB, i7 7700 (likely 7th gen), Thermaltake 750W PSU, Sandisk 250GB M.2 SSD, 32GB crucial RAM, Asus motherboard (type uncertain). I’ll update once I’m free. Thanks, Edited April 15, 2025 by exilez Forgot my ram

You're definitely connected to the GPU, not the motherboard.

Certainly, I understand now. Confirmed, I'm connected via the GPU, yet the motherboard is routing integrated graphics through it as if it were a direct feed.

Open NVIDIA Control Panel, assign the preferred GPU to the RX 580. Adjust Windows graphics settings to prioritize maximum performance.

The GPU is an AMD component, not from NVIDIA. Are there alternative AMD options besides the AMD Adrenalin software?

I'm really sorry, but I need to adjust the graphics settings on your computer. Please save any work and restart the system afterward.

I wasn't able to resolve the issue, but I checked the device manager and the GPU was completely turned off. Someone might have figured out what caused it. I had to restart the PC before it happened, but I'm not sure why that would disable itself. Thanks for your help!
