FSP 650W Bronze i5 12400 Asus Prime b660m-k d4 TUF Vulcan 2x8 3200 Cardea Z44L m.2 500gb My computer won't turn on completely, it just shut down in a split second after turning it on. It's so weird and confusing because of the events that happened while troubleshooting. I went to a local repair shop to find out the issue. The motherboard worked in a different power supply, it booted and worked for a long enough time. So we concluded that the PSU is the problem. We tried again the original PSU if it would work, it didn't. Then, we tried the other PSU again for certainty, and this time it showed the same issue. But what's weird is it will run at first, but restarting it causes it to show the same issue. We tried replacing the ram but it didn't solve the issue. So I decided to ask for replacement for both the mobo and psu. For context, I bought the parts in different stores for discount purposes. The first store took my mobo for RMA in Asus. When I went to the second store, I was astonished when my power supply worked in their build. It's crazy because their build also has a gpu, so their build has higher consumption than mine. It worked perfectly and I saw them assemble it in front of me, so they didn't do anything weird to the computer. The motherboard came, Asus didn't replace it because they said it has scratches, so they just repaired it. I was glad because it worked after building it. Since I saw it working properly, I turned it off to finish the build and manage the cables. Then, it showed the same issue when I turned the computer on again. Now, I don't really know what to do, I feel frustrated because personally it is an expensive build. This is my first decent computer, coming from a core 2 duo with 9500gt. I was using it for three months before the issue became permanent. This issue showed a few times before, but I didn't mind it because I thought it was due to the house's electricity. Any advice will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Initially I suspect a short circuit exists. It seems they reuse the same power cables during testing—confirm if that’s the case. Check for any damage to the cables, perhaps by building it outside the cabinet on top of the motherboard case. Test with just the motherboard, CPU, and RAM. Connect power and a monitor to see if it powers on. If it does, try linking the storage too. Inspect for any frayed or pinched cables inside the cabinet, and ensure there are no extra motherboard mounts not secured by screws.

And if that isn't it, then the PSU is the most probable cause.

Thanks for your help. It functions now. I'm unsure about fitting it into the case while keeping it operational. I'll add the memory now to see if it works. Will let you know. Edit: it still functions. How can I fix the performance issues inside the case?

I resolved the problem. The reason it functions outside is due to my oversight. I didn't realize I was repeatedly connecting the PSU to the HDD. That's why I couldn't identify the issue—I kept ignoring the HDD. After that, I removed the HDD and it worked. All other peripherals and cables connected properly while the motherboard was inside the case. Thanks for your support.

Are you using a solid-state drive now, or did you manage to get it running with your current setup?

It's just an old HDD, but I don't want it to create any more issues. Appreciate the suggestion to build it outside the case—it really helped. Thanks!
