Hi everyone, here’s what I’ve got: I own a Ryzen 5800x from Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2, paired with the 6800 XT 64GB Corsair (4-drop) and an 850W Corsair PSU. The system has run smoothly for about two months. One day I removed the GPU to rearrange fans and reinstalled it—still no display output whatsoever, even when booting through BIOS. At first I assumed the card wasn’t detected. Then I tried various RAM setups, changed ports from DisplayPort to HDMI, re-seated the GPU multiple times, updated its BIOS, swapped drivers, and even used a different GPU. Nothing helped. Eventually I realized Windows would start but the GPU failed to send any signal at all. After clearing CMOS (including removing the battery), I kept trying without success.
I’m a long-time PC builder, so I’m confident I didn’t damage anything during assembly. Physically everything works—lights and fans are on—but the screen remains silent. I suspect the issue lies in driver configuration or compatibility rather than hardware failure.
Any thoughts? Fixes might involve changing the GPU model, updating MBOO BIOS to F12, or using a different card. The thermal paste I used was fresh and high-quality. It seems this particular setup is prone to silent failures, which is frustrating. If you have experience with similar setups, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, the warranty process sounds like a long wait, especially since these parts are hard to find and overpriced. Thanks for your help!
The only situation where I faced such an issue was when I had to switch the monitor input to the right one. It was configured for HDMI while I was using DP. Also, I accidentally left out plugging in my PCI-E cables, which is quite noticeable. Best of luck!
I've encountered the same problem with my 6800XT Sapphire Pulse. The GPU runs perfectly on a fresh Windows installation, but once I shut down the PC via keyboard commands, everything freezes into a black screen. I can still access BIOS and edit settings normally, yet Windows fails to display anything. I'm wondering if this is due to the driver not being recognized properly in Windows, even though background apps work. Could you confirm if this issue occurs on your end or if it's resolved permanently?
I'm facing the same problem with my AMD build. I'm using an MSI RX 5500XT with 4GB RAM and an Asrock B450M Steel Legend motherboard. The GPU stops working when my son plays games like Roblox or Fortnite. Everything else runs fine except the GPU. I've done everything—checked DDU, updated drivers, reset CMOS, reinstalled the GPU, and updated the BIOS, but the issue persists.
