I left a substantial item (about 6-7 kg) on my laptop for about an hour, and it stopped working shortly after turning it off. I’m not sure what might be causing this, I searched online but didn’t find any solutions. When I opened the laptop, everything looked fine. Do you think there’s something unusual happening?

It might be several things, but I'd start by checking the battery connector. If that doesn't work, trying to reinsert all removable parts like RAM and storage could help. Also, make sure to clear out any dust from the fans. Just to be safe, if you damage components such as a PCB or a battery cell, fixing the laptop might not be affordable. Let me know if this helps.
