Device powers off and turns back on without triggering a blue screen of death.
My machine powers off and restarts smoothly while playing Escape from Tarkov. I haven't played much recently, but after downloading Cyberpunk and taking a long break for about 18 hours, everything worked fine. I also ran an OCCT power test for an hour without issues. Occasionally it takes a few hours before it crashes, but if I quickly reconnect after a crash, it usually restarts within a second as though overheating prevented proper cooling. Temperatures look normal in HWiNFO64—CPU 12900KS with direct water cooling, RAM 32GB G-Skill 6600MHz (watercooled), motherboard Z690, GPU 3090 Strix OC (watercooled), SSD 2x WD Black SN850, power supply Seasonic Prime TX 1000, OS Windows 11 fully updated. Other gear includes a Logitech G Pro Superlight mouse, Rode Podcaster USB mic, high-flow next flowmeter, and Streamdeck XL (no overclocking). I've reinstalled Windows multiple times and tested all hardware—PSU readings are stable, no movement. I've attached a screenshot from the event viewer during crashes. Uncertain if this relates to my microphone issues in Discord, which persist even after restarts and device changes; only a restart seems to help. Thanks ahead.
It seems the CPU might be the main concern here, especially with your direct die cooling setup which can lead to problems. RAM is also likely contributing to the issues, as indicated by the error messages. Running a memory test like MemTest86 for multiple passes could help identify the problem. Alternatively, switching to a different motherboard or RAM module might resolve the crashes. If the issue persists after testing, it probably points to the CPU itself.
It could be many factors involved. We can eliminate driver or registry issues by reinstalling Windows. Your concern about minor direct contact errors is valid—they can disrupt performance. Have you tried disconnecting all non-essential devices, such as your Steam Deck and USB microphone? If you remove anything you don’t need for gaming or playback, see if the problem persists. You’ve taken significant steps to manage CPU and RAM temperatures without overclocking. This might be worth exploring further, as even small adjustments can make a difference. It could also be related to something subtle, like a background process or software interference.
