Device powered down, power source emits a strong BANG noise, machine fails to activate
Hello, today an unusual event occurred. I wondered what might be responsible. I looked up online, but found nothing relevant. While working on my company laptop, a loud pop noise came from the computer, then the power cut out. I didn’t know why, so I turned the power back on at the electrical panel and continued using it. After work, I tried my personal PC but it wouldn’t turn on. I replaced the power supply, which worked fine—my Corsair unit had been used for about ten years without problems. My personal PC was off, connected only via a power cable. Has anyone experienced this before? What could be causing it?
The power source stopped working consistently, which is typical for older devices. Luckily, nothing else was damaged.
The device has been powered down, but it's still possible for something to occur.
It happens since the electricity travels via the cables to the switch, then into the power system and finally to the computer.
