Device not sending output yet while fans begin, no visual indicators for status, no code initiated by Q
Current issue: The motherboard's RGB indicates it is receiving power from the PSU, yet when I press the power button it initiates a post-sequence (changing Q-led values) and then halts abruptly. All fans cease operation instantly. It remains unresponsive regardless of further inputs unless I reset the CMOS or perform a power cycle via the back switch or plug. Occasionally it starts with 00, pauses at 15 before stopping, which aligns with my manual for pre-ram initialization, then halts completely. This behavior occurs irrespective of RAM slot, RAM type, or whether RAM is installed.
Recent events: Approximately two months ago, I installed Windows 11 on my PC and experienced a sudden bricking of my Sabrent Rocket 4 drive. After replacement, the system stopped booting. The motherboard was an ASUS B550-e gaming model that displayed an unused Q-led code and DRAM error, leading ASUS to declare it bricked. I underwent an RMA process which took two months before receiving a new motherboard. Once installed, everything functioned normally.
Currently, I've encountered audio problems and Windows detected a hardware change, preventing activation. I opted for a fresh Windows 11 installation. After an hour of attempting to restart, I noticed recurring issues.
Investigation steps: I have re-seated all RAM modules and RAM sticks in their sockets, but the problem persists even without any RAM connected. I've reset the CMOS and reconnected all power cables. No USB devices or displays are connected to help isolate the issue.
Support needed: Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm willing to try various solutions at this stage.
System specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, 3.4 GHz, 16-core
- Motherboard: ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero ATX AM4 (originally B550-e Gaming)
- RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB (2x16 GB), DDR4-3600 CL16
- Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB, 3.5" 7200 RPM
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, 12 GB
- PSU: Corsair HX1200 Platinum 1200 W (80+ Platinum)
- Other: USB devices, display, GPU not connected for testing
Sorry to hear that. It looks like your RAM isn't working properly, especially in the pre-ram configuration phase. The system is showing errors before it powers down.
