I upgraded from a Ryzen 2600 and 1060 to a 3800X and 2060. I updated the BIOS on my MSI B450i gaming plus AC to support the new CPUs via USB flash drive. The older models ran smoothly before the switch. Removing the CPU required some effort—it stuck to the cooler, which I freed using a thin knife without pulling out the socket lever. After reassembly, the PC failed to boot, showing only a brief CPU light blink for debugging.
Notes: My manual indicates the CPU light signals issues or unrecognition. I’ve tried swapping RAM, ensuring power cables were connected, reinserting SSD and HDD, and even used a paperclip on CMOS for 15 seconds without power.
Possible cause: The socket may be damaged for AMD CPUs, as AMD boards use gold points instead of bendable pins.
I’d appreciate any confirmation or suggestions to try further. Here’s a photo of the 3800X: https://imgur.com/Oz0vbsT
Which power supply are you using now? You're consuming significantly more power since the upgrade.
I attempted it once more without success. I removed the CMOS using a paper clip and tried the older CPU, but the issue persisted. I also checked the side and believe it matches your 2600 model.
