I recently purchased two Samsung 970 Evo Plus 256GB SSDs at a discount. My Asus H410 only has one 2x M.2 slot, so I upgraded to a Gigabyte B560M Aorus Elite. I installed my boot drive on the top slot that connects directly to the CPU, but it doesn’t appear. It shows up and functions properly in the second M.2 slot, which I suspect because my CPU only has 16 PCI-E lanes and uses them mainly for the GPU. The first slot seems disabled—am I doing something wrong or is this normal?

Check the documentation on the motherboard manufacturer's website. It specifies that the top slot works with 11th Generation chips only.
