I acquired a fresh motherboard and installed new 970 NVMe M.2 drives. Two slots are functioning properly, but one fails to recognize the drive. All units display 2_3, yet I tried adjusting them in the BIOS to NVMe settings but it didn’t work. I’m struggling because my data is spread across three drives—one reserved for the operating system—and I can’t move files or play games without swapping them out.

Tell us about your setup. What motherboard model is it (brand + number)? Which CPU do you have (brand + model)? You mentioned two Samsung 970 EVO SSDs.

The M.2 slot right above your CPU won't function unless you have the 11th generation version. For SATA connections, those will be turned off if you use the other M.2 ports. Let me know if it helps.

That's correct. I was concerned about a possible defective M.2 slot.
