Hello everyone, I'm attempting to link an external SSD via USB, but it doesn't appear in File Explorer. Once connected, Windows shows it with the right name in the taskbar menu and prompts to eject it. In Device Manager it appears under Disk drives instead of Universal Serial Bus controllers; I've uninstalled it there before, but that didn't resolve the issue. The Disk Management tool also lists it as a basic disk, online, but I can't assign it a drive letter since that option is hidden. When inspecting its properties, it shows Bus Number 0, Target Id 0, LUN 0—this seems unusual. The disk has two partitions (EFI system and primary) plus 129MB of unused space. I've changed the USB Root Hub Power Controls settings, but nothing worked. I've tested different USB ports as well. I've already run disk repair/health commands via Command Prompt, though the SSD seems fine—my friend got it yesterday and it functioned properly. I've faced similar issues with another SSD before, initially thinking it was defective, but now suspect a problem on my end. Thanks!

It sounds like something is blocking access to the disk in the partition tables. I'd recommend using Diskpart - here's a link to an article from Seagate explaining how to use the tool, including screenshots to get the whole thing working. https://www.seagate.com/support/kb/how-t...-005929en/

I've encountered this before. You might want to try the method from https://www.thewindowsclub.com/cant-form...windows-10. If not, your approach could involve removing the drive from its case and connecting it directly to the PC via SATA with power. After turning on the PC, use DiskPart to clear the SSD so it's fully empty. Once back in the USB enclosure, it should appear and you can format and create a partition.
