I frequently encounter crashes with my machine, making troubleshooting frustrating. Windows began failing after just a few seconds at boot, without a full BSOD—just the system became unresponsive. The mouse remains functional, but applications fail to load once the OS crashes. I can't even initiate shutdown via Windows settings; I must power off manually. Occasionally, if the system boots normally, stress tests or CPU checks reveal no issues. Sometimes launching Chrome or other programs at startup helps stabilize things. This behavior is unusual.

I initially thought the GPU or its PCI extension cable might be faulty, so I disconnected the cable and connected the GPU directly to the motherboard, but it still crashed. Then I removed the RX580 chipset and used iGPU, which worked perfectly.

Next, I attempted to fix the AMD driver using DDU, replaced the driver with Adrenalin 24.3.1, and restarted multiple times—no crashes occurred. Running a stress test confirmed stability. However, the AMD graphics driver remained outdated, and the CPU detected as Microsoft Basic Display Driver. I updated the AMD driver to the latest version and restarted; it still crashed.

Later, I noticed the AMD driver wasn’t updated and the CPU was detected as Microsoft Basic Display Driver. I updated Adrenalin to the newest release and restarted again—this time it worked. But after rebooting, Windows would crash once more.

I then downloaded a fresh Windows Media installation, suspecting file corruption from power interruptions during shutdowns. What should I do now? Is there a specific fix for my hardware or driver situation?

Begin by resetting CMOS and fixing Windows using "sfc /scannow" in the command prompt. If this fails, reinstall Windows; the issue likely isn't with the GPU.

I restored Windows and reinstalled the AMD graphics card driver. Everything is now stable with the 24.3.1 driver. I'm cautious about updating the AMD driver since I think there might be a conflict when pairing the 7800 x3d iGPU with the RX580 GPU, especially with multiple monitors—one of which is an HDMI output from the MOBO HDMI (acting as the iGPU). Using both iGPU and direct GPU output together seems to cause issues and corruption. I've been using this configuration for months without major problems, but it's strange.

Verify each part separately in a different environment.

It should be fine to use both GPUs, but the RX580 isn’t powerful enough for the 7800X3D, so you’ll need an upgrade.

Yes, I understand. The RX580 from the previous PC where the CPU failed works fine for now since I don’t use heavy games. I’m planning to bring my ITX case on trips and need a compact 2-slot graphics card. Right now it’s stable with the existing drivers. I’ll run stress tests before updating the AMD driver.
