If you didn’t verify the correct voltage, everything could have been damaged. Barrel connectors aren’t swappable and don’t offer the same intelligence as USB.
It seems likely, though maybe not entirely certain. That situation might have stopped more harm if it had been at the other port. Still, you were fortunate, my friend—use it as a lesson.
I’ll ask my dad to fix my laptop because he’s being unreasonable and wants the mp3s from that terrible DVD.
Just be cool about it, it’s no one’s fault just bad luck. And the laptop is fine, so I would feel bad guilt-tripping my dad into buying a new one. But that’s just my opinion
