The instructions were a bit unclear, but the main idea was to use an icon with 13 layers and link it via the provided Microsoft documentation. Be mindful of how you connect it to the device. On my first attempt, every USB port turned into a M65 mouse, so I had to disconnect everything to identify what was happening.

Most likely, you selected the item and clicked on Properties or a similar option.

I improved the concept in my initial comment, I’m considering turning my poor screen into a toaster!

This method applies to folders and shortcuts, while for devices and printers you need a Microsoft tool to link the icon to them.

I can generate icons for you. Just add them to your device. You don’t have to provide much detail.

never really paid much attention to the device stage in win7 lol. i recall trying this back during the win7 beta and having to dig through random folders just to find what i needed. even after all these years, the only real icon that managed to get in is my printer. where is everything on yours? there’s a lot of random stuff here in mine, but yours has almost nothing!
