I've been working on fixing my gaming PC for the last month. It won't boot past BIOS and often freezes or shows error codes. I sent the motherboard in for warranty, thinking it was the main board, but it still doesn’t start. There are three Windows errors, a kernel security check failure, an unhandled kmode exception, and driver issues with irql not meeting requirements. I unplugged all drives suspecting hardware faults and kept one plugged in. After testing and re-downloading Windows via USB, the purple screen appears when installing, and it won’t show new drives on BIOS either. My specs are i9 9900k, ASUS Maximus Hero, Wi-Fi, GeForce RTX 2080, 8GB RAM, 32GB SSD, Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro NZXT X72, liquid cooler, and I’m using the new drivers listed.
When building your own PC, there are some limitations you face. Start by clearing the CMOS—it’s the most affordable and straightforward fix. If possible, swap out the existing drive with a new one, even if you’re not concerned about data safety. Next, add a budget RAM module, then consider the CPU if neither of those steps resolves the problem. Ideally, the issue lies with the RAM or storage device.

We searched for information on KERNEL_CHECK_SECURITY_FAILURE and found the typical causes: memory issues, old drivers, viruses, corrupted system files, and malware. We’ve ruled out hardware problems by removing all storage devices and testing a known good HDD/SSD.
I don’t possess any Windows-based hard drives besides the older ones on the PC. I also have two brand-new blank hard drives available.
