Hey, last monday I received a free server. Today I upgraded the two 2609v4 CPUs to two 2696v4 and installed a Kioxia M.2 slot. The problem is, the server doesn’t boot or display anything. It seems to attempt startup but then loses power. As shown in the attached video, it just powers off or crashes. The M.2 works properly before and after the CPU change, and it also worked on my laptop. Did you know what might be causing this? Edit: Near the USBs and other ports, there’s a LED that starts green then turns red until the server shuts down or crashes. IMG_1547.mov Edited August 17, 2023 by Privat344
Do those processors work with the UEFI on that motherboard? You could reinstall the older CPUs and refresh the UEFI settings.
Before purchasing the CPUs, I verified their compatibility but noticed the Intel site didn’t specify this model. It showed the 2699v4, which is very similar, while the 2696v4 (150W) has a slightly higher TDP of 5W compared to the 2699v4 (145W). I assumed they’d work since another discussion on the forum suggested it’s likely possible. Updating the UEFI involves similar steps to a BIOS update—just ensure you follow the correct procedures for your system.

If both start up separately, it suggests a compatibility problem with running two 2696v4 chips on the board. If one fails while the other succeeds, it likely points to a defective or incompatible unit.
I didn't verify that exact setup, only tried these settings: -2696v4#1 on CPU2, 2609v4#1 on CPU1 -2609v4#1 on CPU2 -2696v4#1 on CPU1 -2609v4#2 on CPU2 -2696v4#1 on CPU1 -2609v4#2 on CPU2 -2609v4#1 on CPU1 -2696v4#1 on CPU1 I used 2609v4 + 2696v4 in CPU1 and waited about two minutes for these configurations.
