Following the upgrade to a Corsair RM850e, my computer keeps acting strangely. When powered on, the CPU cooler spins normally but no RGB lights appear. The GPU fans run at full speed and become quieter after a moment. The power button only turns on briefly and then refuses to shut off, even when held for over ten seconds. This issue started right after the upgrade, and I previously fixed it by changing the GPU power cables. Now it’s happening again without any solution, and I’m getting frustrated. Can you help explain what’s going on and suggest a fix?

Checking for special cables, retaining old power supply connections, confirming full insertion of all wires, and verifying the front panel connection.

These are all the cables included with the case and the new power supply unit. The cables from the previous setup are still in their original boxes along with the old PSU. Everything is fully connected. I also swapped out the front panel connectors and reinserted them—no change noticed.

These problems occur even without connecting any front panel connectors or additional controllers. Try disconnecting the case from the system and the new PSU to determine if the issue lies with the PSU or the case.

I identified the issue. The defective motherboard was the culprit. My idea is that it managed to distribute power across the system, which is why the fans and RGB lighting functioned, but it failed to communicate, explaining why the fan curves didn't activate and the PC wouldn't boot. I'm not an expert on motherboards, so my theory might be incorrect. Ultimately, I replaced it with a new one (MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus) and everything is now working perfectly again.
