You're facing trouble with your M.2 SSD not showing up. You're near completion of the build and haven't installed an operating system yet. You've verified compatibility on MSI's site, updated the BIOS, and reinserted the SSD multiple times. Need some guidance. PCPartPicker provides a list here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TqkQfy. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 3.5 GHz 6-core ($129.97). Cooler: Thermalright Assassin King SE ARGB ($23.49). Motherboard: MSI PRO B550M-VC WIFI Micro ATX AM4 ($119.99). RAM: TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB 32GB ($69.98). SSD: TEAMGROUP Cardea Zero Z440 Graphene 2TB ($97.99). Graphics: ASRock Challenger Radeon RX 6600 8GB ($209.99). Case: DIYPC ARGB-Q3 MicroATX ($66.91). Power Supply: Corsair CX650M (2021) ($79.99). All costs sum to $798.31, including shipping and taxes. Updated Dec 12, 2023.

Review BIOS configurations, or if you possess a USB drive with Windows/OS, attempt to launch only the USB and observe whether the installation detects the SSD.

I understand, I didn't want to jump to conclusions.

The only info in the bios was about an NVMe self-test, and it didn’t list any drives. The Windows setup also didn’t display any drives.

It seems like things didn't go well, but a fresh SSD should be a good start. Your setup looks great!

It would be helpful if you could figure out whether your Gen 4 SSD fits in a Gen 3 slot.

Yes, only the bandwidth is limited, but it doesn't always affect SSD performance since not all SSDs match Gen 4 speeds, particularly if they're not high-end.
