Hey there. I'm trying to fix a laptop that won't boot and shows a black screen, but the power indicator is working. When I remove the battery, I can access the recovery options and click "continue to Windows," though it keeps shutting down before loading. I suspect the battery might be the issue, but I want to confirm. There are many online tips suggesting a laptop should still power on even without the battery, but that doesn't match my situation. My location is near latitude 7490. Thanks!

It works if you disconnect the battery from the motherboard, plug in the charger, and turn on the laptop. This happened with my sister's device. The battery remains in place but is disconnected, so it doesn't supply power. If it were designed to use the wall directly and the battery was removed, the computer wouldn't start even when plugged in, which isn't the situation here. I believe the battery isn't the issue if it's fully detached from the internal board and drawing power from the wall. If Windows recovery appears, storage problems are more likely.

It seems the battery has a minor issue, so even with power delivery, it can't provide sufficient voltage. Have you checked the battery voltage without it? It should be around 12 volts or about 7.6 volts based on your setup. Do you have a multimeter?

No problem, I understand. I don't own a DVM, but I think I should consider getting one eventually.

I see your point, but the issue lies in why it doesn't activate despite the battery being connected.

The message is confusing and unclear. It seems to mix technical issues with personal experiences, making it hard to understand the main point. If you're trying to explain something, try simplifying and focusing on the key ideas.
