Hello, welcome to the forums! I’m just getting started and wanted some guidance. My friend was upgrading their motherboard, installing a new RAM (12GB) and stock cooler. I had a few components ready. The new motherboard came with a RYZEN 7 2700X, which was a gaming model with a 470X and 16GB DDR4. They used an older CPU, the Ryzen 5 4600G. After swapping everything and checking connections, they connected to a monitor but got a black screen with no BIOS or anything. I tried reseating the GPU and RAM again, even going back to the original RYZEN 7 build, but the issue persisted. Please help me figure this out!
Hello John, thank you for joining the forums. The 4600G is initially compatible with the motherboard following BIOS version 5861. Please update to that release if needed. You can try restarting your device or clearing the cache to refresh the bios information. If that doesn’t work, check for software updates or contact support for further help.
The motherboard should function with the previous CPU. You should be able to access the BIOS and make updates. If that fails, your issue might be different or involve at least two factors. Perhaps share a clear photo of the board? Also, OEM desktops usually have proprietary PSUs—have you confirmed all required connectors? Edited June 14, 2025 by leclod
