Hello, after building my PC I faced some issues when launching it for the first time. It took a long time to open and even restarting was difficult. Once it worked after a restart, everything seemed normal. Recently I upgraded my graphics card from Nvidia GTX 760 to GTX 970, but the same problems persist—frame drops below 60 FPS during games like Valorant or Genshin Impact, even at low settings. I've tried reinstalling Windows and using DDU to fix drivers, but the performance remains inconsistent. My specs are: Intel Xeon E5-1660, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, Zalman ZM1000-HP power supply. I know the details, but my English isn’t great.

What kind of storage are you employing? Are you relying on an SSD or HDD that might be causing problems?

You're asking about your storage type—SSD or HDD—and whether the CPU issues might be tied to an older Xeon E5 1660. It seems a fresh Windows installation could help, and enabling automatic driver updates might resolve some problems.

The frame drops are typical in newer titles. With a 6-core i7 2600, performance should hold up in Valorant. How much RAM do you have? Are you using Windows on an SSD? Have you ever reinstalled Windows without resetting it? What are your CPU and GPU temperatures while gaming? These components are quite old and may need thermal paste.

I'm experiencing issues with my SSD, which seems to be the problem. It was one of the goldenfir SSDs from aliexpress before I swapped out my graphics card. Before that, I had smooth performance and no frame drops. I only play smaller games like CS:GO, Valorant, XDefiant, and Genshin Impact. Recently, after a clean Windows install, the issue persists even with the new drivers.

I haven't tried any newer titles. My system has 4x4GB RAM. I just ran a memtest and everything looked fine. My Windows is installed on an SSD. I reinstalled the OS yesterday. When using RAVINTuner stats, my CPU averages 60° and GPU around 65° during the biggest game I play.

It might be the SSD if it appears questionable, as it could wear out more quickly than usual.

To find out, just alter it.

It seems the CPU or SSD is likely the issue, probably a mix of both.

However, the CPU performed well before I upgraded my graphics card. It might be faulty, but it’s not too severe.
