Device Fails to Boot During Initial Power On Attempt
Hello everyone! I've been planning to share a post for some time now. A few years ago I assembled this machine, and everything worked flawlessly until recently. There was a custom water loop with a faulty pump – that’s the issue I’m dealing with. About a year ago, I noticed I couldn’t get it to POST when I pressed the power button. Restarting the motherboard fixed it, but nothing changed before that. I switched from my custom loop to an AIO, though I’m not sure if the problem began then or later. I’m considering building a new system soon and would like to resolve this before selling the old one. I’ve cleared the CMOS, re-seated all cables, updated RAM, re-seated GPU, and updated the BIOS. I’ve checked all front connectors and have been troubleshooting for about a year, so I might not remember everything. Any advice or suggestions would be really helpful!

I'm facing the same issue on my work PC. I've had to reset it several times—between 5 to 15 attempts. It's an old system, so I just upgraded this week. I replaced the GPU, HDD (now a slave with a new NVMe installation), and the CPU cooler, but it still functions. This morning it won't boot at all; I've been trying for nearly two hours. It started up once, but Windows prompted a diagnostic and then it's stuck again. I've tried a different GPU and unplugged the old HDD, but nothing changed. When it finally boots, everything works perfectly.
I truly believed a person might offer an idea or recommendation.
Certainly! A cold start refers to the process where the computer powers on but fails to complete the POST sequence, which can cause it to shut down or behave unexpectedly. It doesn’t necessarily mean the power button isn’t connected—it means the system doesn’t initialize properly at startup.
I shared a video showing its functionality. Pressing the power button (either the case or the motherboard) turns everything on, all fans spin, but no signal reaches the monitor. No POST occurs. When I restart it, it works normally as expected after the first power cycle.
Ah, sorry, I didn't see the link. I found something in the mobo's manual that you could check real quick. It's typically used by extreme overclockers who have trouble starting their computers when the cpu is at -100C or whatever. It won't hurt to enable it and may allow your computer to cold start.
Unfortunately, it didn<|pad|> to resolve the problem. Thank you for your assistance!
