I constructed a machine roughly a month ago, and each time I power it up it emits a buzzing sound. I investigated coil whine but found it doesn’t match the high frequency, more like radio static. I verified my fans aren’t responsible since the noise is stronger near the top than the bottom where the GPU sits. A video attached might assist in identifying the issue. Could there be a solution? Specifications include: CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 7900 (Thermalright Peerless Assassin Cooler), GPU - Sapphire Pulse 7900XTX, PSU - Corsair SF750 MOBO, ROG STRIX X670E-I, RAM - G.Skill Ripjaw 32gb CL30 5600 DDR5, Case - NR200.

PSUs can indeed produce coil whine too! My Corsair RM750i has it, but it’s not loud enough to be noticeable during games or regular use. If you look closely and open the side panel, you might hear it. Keep in mind that coil whine is harmless and doesn’t harm the equipment; it’s just an annoyance. I notice your PSU is close to where you’re filming—try placing your ear near the fan to check if the sound comes from there. The noise you’re hearing matches what coil whine sounds like, though some versions have lower or higher pitches. It could be something else, but it definitely resembles coil whine.

It seems like coil whine is present. Coil whine typically originates from the GPU, though other parts can also produce similar sounds. Motherboards can whine too—my Z170 OC Formula does that quite a bit, and power supplies are another common source. With power delivery moved into the DIMMs, even RAM can sometimes make noise. Based on the audio direction in the video, it likely comes from either the motherboard or one of the RAM modules. It’s not a serious issue, but if you want to identify the exact cause, inspect those components individually.

Thanks for your message! I understand your concern. The noise coming from the back is more noticeable, which might be due to how the components are positioned or the enclosure design. Let me see if I can help you with some adjustments.

Thanks for the update! It looks like the PSU is operating smoothly and quietly, even when under stress. Nice to know it won’t impact lifespan.

Usually I boost the game audio and consider using a case for improved sound quality. Otherwise, there aren't many options available.

I resolved the problem! The 7900XTX was undervolted, which stopped the noise. In AMD Radeon Tuning Software I enabled automatic undervolting and the sound disappeared. I’ll continue testing with manual adjustments to confirm the result.
