Device detection fails despite recognizing all storage media connected.
I began constructing my ideal machine about a week ago. First, the CPU, NVME M.2 drive, motherboard, RAM, and power supply arrived. The parts were: CPU – Ryzen 9 5950X, Motherboard – ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS, Graphics Card – AMD B550, NVME M.2 drive – Samsung 980 PRO 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Power Supply – Corsair 1200W Corsair Vengeance LPX Black DDR4-RAM 3600 MHz (4x 16GB). I installed a fresh Windows 10 on the system for a week with my 1050 Ti without issues. On a piece of cardboard, not enclosed, I ran the installation. In the morning, my RTX 3080 and case arrived as well. I initially tested the graphics card in the existing configuration; it worked smoothly for roughly three hours. Then I decided to enclose everything. After that, the system kept restarting into the ASUS motherboard setup menu. It reported it couldn’t locate any bootable devices, even though the storage media appeared in the window. The motherboard displayed two M.2 slots, so I switched to another one. It functioned identically, showing the drive but refusing to recognize it as a bootable device. I reinserted the USB drive with Windows 10 and restarted the setup again... until I reached this message: “Windows can’t be installed on drive 0 partition X [1, 2 or 3]. I’ve tried them all.” It also blocked any attempt to format the drive. I attempted to use a known good SATA SSD OS drive from my old PC, but it didn’t appear as a bootable device either. I’m extremely worried and unsure which component is failing. Please help me figure this out or give me guidance on troubleshooting.”
Thanks for the feedback. After testing the "format" option without results, the "delete" button seems to function better. I’m a bit surprised by that, but it worked. I appreciate your patience and advice—remembering to use an anti-static wristband helped. In this case, what would clear my Windows installation? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
