A few days back my home computer failed to start Windows 11 automatically. I tried many troubleshooting steps but nothing worked. The error message pointed to a corrupt file named "cdd5cb55-db68-4d71-aa38-3df2b6473a52.cip" which seemed to be a bug. Even after a startup repair, the issue persisted. I switched to a USB Linux distribution, backed up my system files, reformatted the drive and removed recovery partitions. I created a new partition for the OS and installed a fresh Windows version, but I couldn't boot into UEFI mode at all. I tried setting different boot priorities, but only the first one worked. I've used UEFI on this machine before, so it was unusual. My hard drive is GPT formatted, and when installing from legacy, the installer asked to convert it to MBR. Disabling fast boot didn't help either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I got the Windows 11 installer running, but I had to disable secure boot. Now I can't install it since secure boot isn't supported. Wow!

I actually went there to share what I did, and it helped. Right now I'm setting it up but my OCD is really upset. What led to this issue originally? I hope I can get secure boot working.

It seems the issue might be linked to Microsoft. You could try enabling the secure boot after installation. Your unusual upgrade setup is also confusing.

I refreshed my bios firmware and everything appears to be fixed. It looked like the problem was with the outdated firmware. I think using the new secure boot keys resolved it. I’m not sure how to end this discussion, if that’s necessary.
