Hello Forum, I spent the night fixing a recent build of scrap components. The system runs a Ryzen 5 3600, Gigabyte GA-A320M-S2H, XFX RX570, and a Kingston SA400S37 250GB SSD. It boots into the BIOS and loads, but when I try to install Windows using the Kingston drive, it shows an error: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu." I searched online and found several solutions, tried disabling CSM and Secure Boot, even changing the drive, but nothing worked. I also tested connecting it to another PC, installing Windows there, and then trying again. The other system recognized the drive as bootable, but when I pressed F12 to view boot options, it showed a blank screen or a cancel option. I’ve tried troubleshooting on other machines with similar issues, but I’m stuck and need advice. Please help!
Have you considered setting up the drive first before adding Windows? Occasionally, if a drive was used before, it might already have a partition, requiring you to remove it during installation. Does the drive display "Drive 0 Unallocated Space"?
I saw this before with another user. The referenced drive appears in the QVL, but the BIOS updates for the GA-A320 removed some device support before the 3600(X) update, making things even more complicated by cutting out additional ports. The BIOS revision list is really hard to read. I had to double-check because the drive is SATA3 and the board does have those ports, so it shouldn’t be a big issue. The board also has an M.2 slot—do you have one installed? Some boards block certain SATA ports when an M.2 is present. Also, does the cable you’re using work with SATA3? If not, that might cause problems. Otherwise, it might be time to switch to a B450 board.

I’m uncertain about the SATA cable. The only drive currently installed is the one I’m experiencing problems with. Upgrading the board would be an option, but it’s just a secondary PC I intend to use for a Minecraft server. I have some spare components after converting the original build into a standalone machine. I plan to try updating the BIOS tomorrow if possible. Appreciate your thorough reply.
