I recently purchased a Corsair 2x 8GB DDR4 2666 Vengeance LPX kit (used) but Windows only displays 8GB. BIOS shows 16GB and Speccy reports 16GB as well. I’ve built many PCs using used components, so I’m familiar with this situation. Earlier, a similar problem occurred with DDR3 RAM on an Intel system—BIOS listed it as 16GB but not in Windows, while Speccy showed it correctly. My current RAM lists dual channel in Speccy, but Windows doesn’t. I ran the Memory Diagnostic tool and it came back clean. Screenshots are attached. The Speccy temperature reading seems off, but it’s not a hardware fault and cooling appears normal. I won’t use this RAM in my test machine, which is my main system, but it’s the only DDR4 I own right now. I’ve used 16GB HyperX and Crucial kits, so my setup isn’t the issue. I’ve reinstalled it several times without success. Anyone have any ideas about what might be wrong?

Display an image of the system information screen by right-clicking on "My PC," selecting "Properties," and then clicking the last option.

Windows interprets it as a single stick installation, loading the system accordingly.

They tested each part separately, but one of them caused the fans to run at full speed and fail to load. Adding an 8GB Kingston card resolved the issue, but it still displayed only 8GB. It seems one of the drives is defective, though this raises doubts about why the BIOS shows 16GB when both are present but doesn't boot with just the bad one. Hardware failures appear to happen unpredictably. I also noticed the two drives differ slightly, as shown in the attached photo. Regardless, I'm contacting the seller for a refund and sending them a message. Cheers
