You've had trouble getting the USB drive recognized. It seems to freeze or crash in Pathfinder, especially when trying to access it from the command prompt. After plugging it in and unplugging, things seem to work again. The issue might be related to driver problems or a corrupted file system. Trying to format it in Command Prompt also causes similar issues. It could help to check your USB port, ensure the drive is properly seated, or try using a different operating system temporarily.

Run DiskPart to list disks, choose the one you want to clean, then open Disk Management. Press Win+R to launch Disk Management, and create a basic NTFS volume afterward.
