Device activates autonomously without power switch, fans operate at full speed but system fails to load.
I reduced the precision of my Dell hardware to just change the fan settings, but now the desktop fails to boot and starts up immediately when the power cable is plugged in. All components have been tested on an Optiplex (Bar mobo) and are functioning properly. The other CPU also doesn’t work in the same setup, even with only the 24-pin connector connected. Please let me know if you can help.
It could be a grounding problem or your power button stuck. I’d remove everything, including the motherboard, test it, and place it on non-conductive material. If the issue continues, the motherboard might be shorting. Check the IO pins on the front panel (usually at the bottom), as the CPU could be affected by BIOS issues. Consider updating and installing the latest version.
Hi Aaradorn, thanks for your prompt response. I removed everything except the motherboard connected to the PSU, but the fans still turn on immediately when power is applied. I cleaned the front IO pins with air and a cloth, yet nothing changed. It doesn’t boot, and the fans run at full speed, suggesting it’s not just a power issue. Thanks, Kipp.
