Hi guys, Please help me with choosing an adapter and port for installing Samsung 970 EVO M.2. I have Asus P8Z68-V mother board and used only one pcie x16 for installing GTX1060. 1. The below ports are empty so which one is a better choice and why ? 2. Will any port affect my graphic card performance ? 1. PCI1 (Blue) (very close to GTX so I don't prefer to install in this port) 2. PCIEX16_2 (White) 3. PCI2 (Blue) 4. PCIEX16_3 (Black)

So this is a socket LGA1155 motherboard. If I'm not mistaken this doesn't support booting NVMe drives. (Though I've heard there are ways of "hacking" it to make it work).

You own an i7 2600k processor. Your system uses a standard SSD for startup, so you won’t be booting from it. You’re mainly focusing on installing games and keeping data.

Based on what I understand, skimming the motherboard manual is a good idea. For optimal performance, choose the grey/white slot instead of the default ones. This adjustment will lower your GPU's speed to x8 from x16, which shouldn't affect its operation. The blue slots are for PCI, not PCI_e, and they're not suitable for M.2 devices.

I strongly suggest using a high-capacity SSD for this task. A non-boot NVMe device is just for fast file retrieval, like during photo editing—store the files elsewhere on the drive to edit and then transfer them back when needed.
