Hi everyone, seeking guidance on optimal WiFi access point positioning. We own a Meraki Cisco Mr33 Wave 2 AP (3 radios, dual-band 2.4GHz & 5GHz, WIDSWIPS, 802.11Ac, Poe). The licensing details are listed here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N7RWVA6/r...hEb6J9ZXQX. I recently learned someone suggests keeping the AP at least 20 feet away from people, which seems unusual. Would appreciate expert insight or reliable sources to confirm this advice.

I've never encountered anything like this, so I'm saying no—it's not accurate. However, perhaps if the AP generates significant power (though not as much as an in-building Wi-Fi AP could), it might help.

The claims are entirely inaccurate. You should be aware of the FCC guidelines regarding distance between operators and radio equipment. The information you found comes from a limited and unreliable source, likely misinterpreted from an old product manual.
