I discovered an issue with the power controller chip on my Samsung 870 SSD. Under a microscope, I noticed a burn hole on the chip. It’s unclear where to purchase a replacement or what the exact model is.

It might be smarter to contact Samsung for a warranty upgrade or opt for a fresh drive with a simple cooling fix.

Go to an electronics shop; they’ll likely recognize the item and know how to replace it. Many firms source parts, possibly standard components that Samsung purchases in bulk. The small characters between A and D seem like a Japanese symbol rather than a typical letter—if it were a regular 't', they’d have used a simpler code like ATDB7. It’s possible he has information about the drive you need to recover. Unless there’s specific data on the drive, the current price for older SSDs is so low that the effort might not be worth it.

The simplest approach is to acquire another Samsung 870, replace the IC, inspect the ceramic capacitors for shorts, and restore your data. Since you didn’t share the entire board, I can't provide detailed insights, but it seems like a linear regulator or a synchronous buck regulator (without an inductor near the chip) might be involved, reducing 5V from the SATA power connector to lower voltages such as 2.5V or 1.8V.
