Determine the Appropriate Dell OS DVD for System Reinstallation
Hi,
I've bought a number of different Dell computers over the years. All Win7. They all came with a DVD that states 'Operating System Already Installed On Your Computer' 'Windows 7 64 Bit'. I have these. Like this.

The problem is I don't know which DVD goes with which computer, as there is no model number on the DVD.
Can I use any DVD or is the DVD tied to the computer model? The wrong one will not have the correct drivers right?
Thanks.
This disc won't require additional drivers since it's just a standard OS with only basic Windows drivers included. The product key is already set in the BIOS, so it will be recognized automatically when you start booting from the disc.
EDIT:
Different DVDs aren't limited to specific systems—they're mass-produced. As a former DELL tech support manager, I know this well.
It seems this capability wasn't available in Windows 7, as it only became possible starting with Windows 8 and 8.1.
Nope, believe it or not, it was around even with Windows XP. We had to clarify to people every day why they didn't receive a product key and why the one on the side of their machine was blank. It's not an OS feature but comes from the BIOS programming, which is why DELL often uses their own BIOS firmware versions.
